Enhancing Hydrogen Evolution Electrocatalytic Performance in Neutral Media via Nitrogen and Iron Phosphide Interactions

نویسندگان

چکیده

It remains a challenge to develop efficient electrocatalysts in neutral media for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) due the sluggish kinetics and switch of rate determining step. Although metal phosphides are widely used HER catalysts, their structural stability is an issue oxidization, performance requires improvement. Herein, new material, i.e., grapevine-shaped N-doped iron phosphide on carbon nanotubes, as catalyst developed. The optimized shows overpotential 256 mV at large current density 65 mA cm−2, which even 10 lower than that commercial 20% Pt/C catalyst. excellent further studied by combined computational experimental techniques, proves interaction between nitrogen can provide more active structures stabilize HER.

Electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution using amorphous tungsten phosphide nanoparticles.

Amorphous tungsten phosphide (WP), which has been synthesized as colloidal nanoparticles with an average diameter of 3 nm, has been identified as a new electrocatalyst for the hydrogen-evolution reaction (HER) in acidic aqueous solutions. WP/Ti electrodes produced current densities of -10 mA cm(-2) and -20 mA cm(-2) at overpotentials of only -120 mV and -140 mV, respectively, in 0.50 M H2SO4(aq).

Enhancing electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution by nickel salicylaldimine complexes with alkali metal cations in aqueous media.

New salicylaldimine nickel complexes, comprising only earth-abundant elements, have been developed for electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution in aqueous media. The second-sphere ether functionalities on the periphery of the complexes enhance the electrocatalytic activity in the presence of alkali metal cations. The electrocatalysts demonstrate improved performances especially in the economical and...

Preparation of Ni-P-CeO2 electrode and study on electrocatalytic properties for hydrogen evolution reaction

In this study ternary Ni-P-CeO2 catalysts were first synthesized by the Co-electrodeposition method on a copper substrate and then characterized by means of microstructural and electrochemical techniques toward a hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Also, for comparison other catalysts such as Ni-CeO2, Ni-P, and Ni were prepared and characterized by the same methods. The microstructure of the inv...

Computational Study of Fluorinated Diglyoxime-Iron Complexes: Tuning the Electrocatalytic Pathways for Hydrogen Evolution.

The ability to tune the properties of hydrogen-evolving molecular electrocatalysts is important for developing alternative energy sources. Fluorinated diglyoxime-iron complexes have been shown to evolve hydrogen at moderate overpotentials. Herein two such complexes, [(dAr(F)gBF2)2Fe(py)2], denoted A, and [(dAr(F)g2H-BF2)Fe(py)2], denoted B [dAr(F)g = bis(pentafluorophenyl-glyoximato); py = pyri...
